Day 7: Château de Versailles

After a week in France we’ve seen our fair share of castles, but Versailles is an a league all of it’s own.  It is by far the most massive and outrageous display of opulence and luxury either of us had ever experienced!

The first impression definitely drives home the theme: gold, wealth, and power.

That theme is carried through the interior of the huge château built by Louis XIV in the 17th Century.

As if the interior wasn’t enough, the sheer size and immensity of the grounds surrounding the château was nothing short of spectacular.

On grounds so big, there’s only one way to discover it all…

We took our bikes across the gardens all the way over to Marie Antoinette’s private estate.

Finally, over to the Grand Trianon because one palace just wasn’t enough for the Roi Soleil.

All this time visiting has left little time for blogging, but we’ll catch you up to speed on our posh Paris day along the Champs Elysées soon!

A bientôt,

Blair & Basile
